New sock blanks

I took some inspiration from a travel brochure on Yorkshire for the first one but then had great fun creating the second one. Sort of stained glass window’esque.

Knitwit Originals labels have arrived

Now my yarn can have a professional look with their own ‘brand’ labels. Kindly designed by a good friend I can use these bands on any of my hand dyed yarns. Room for all the relevant information they are neat and subtle not detracting from the colourful yarn they surround. Will take me a while to complete labelling all my stock but it will be worth it in the end.
I have added quite a few ‘mill ends’ and hand dyed Brand name yarns to my stock so it’s not just sock yarn! Put the kettle on and take a look see!

Hand dyed sock blank socks

Have almost finished the first pair of socks knitted from the sock blank ‘scarf’ which I hand painted. It was painted with 3 colours then steamed to set the dye. I don’t like the colours at all but at least I’ll have a warm pair of socks at the end of the experiment. Had to have a friend help me graft the toe on sock no 1 but I fully intend to have go myself on sock no 2.

Scarf sock yarn-now in etsy shop

After trialing my very first scarf sock yarn I am now pleased to announce that they are being added to my etsy shop http://www.etsy.com/shop/knitwitoriginalsuk
I love how the pink spotty one turned out, it took ages to do but I think it will look fabulous knitted up into a pair of funky socks. The second one still has to dry, another experiment-it is also funky for the brave of feet, some pink in it as I needed to use up the exhaust from previous one but with added blue. Rather than knitting from a ball of yarn you unravel the ‘scarf’ as you knit, it doesn’t roll away and you can wear it as you knit! great fun!

New sock on the block

I recently purchased knitted ‘scarves’ that you dye, unravel and knit socks with. The painting took over half an hour to complete and was quite tricky to do in a very limited space but once steamed I was relieved to see that colours hadn’t run and it was quite pleasing. Before I start selling them on etsy I thought I should actually knit one up and it is really quite fun, never knowing where the stripe colour changes are going to be.I’m not too happy about the colours, they look faded but not bad for a first attempt!
