I’m still waiting to see the latest Hockney exhibition but I did get to peruse the beautiful book that accompanies the show. All those amazing colours, spectacular! I just had to paint my interpretation!
Took a while to prepare the colours-

Two painting and steaming sessions later

You’d better hurry up if you want to catch the exhibition Jay – it ends soon. Interestingly, your sock blank first reminded me very much of his earlier Californian Landscapes ( some of which are in the exhibition) but it also looks like a couple of the ones he painted from the a top of a hill in Yorkshire when he first got back there – before he really got started on the trees. – it would be wodnerful if the socks really did end up looking like the blank – Hockeny socks, how cool would that be!
